He raised his son to be an absolute bastard and he's still one of the least manly men I have ever seen in my life. He's just a coward who acts like a bully to cover up how weak and insecure he really is.

(3,557 posts)Thats how I felt and acted as an Infantry Platoon Leader in Iraq in 2004.
I had absolute power to make life and death decisions when I led patrols and as long as I could somehow justify them to my boss, my actions were never questioned. Its too easy to lead Infantrymen in a fight, shooting and destroying lives is what we are trained to do. However it is hard to demand restraint and compassion from these same Soldiers.
Acting with compassion, patience, and understanding always made me feel proud and strong. Combat always left me feeling hollow and destroyed.
Ill challenge anybody to call me unmanly.
