Amazon to allow employees to work from home until 2021
Amazon will allow its engineers and business employees to work from home at least through Jan. 8 because of the coronavirus pandemic, the company said Wednesday.
The company had previously planned to allow its employees to work remotely through Oct. 2.
We continue to prioritize the health of our employees and follow local government guidance. Employees who work in a role that can effectively be done from home are welcome to do so until January 8, an Amazon spokeswoman told the Business Journal. We have invested significant funds and resources to keep those who choose to come to the office safe through physical distancing, deep cleaning, temperature checks, and by providing face coverings and hand sanitizer.
The decision comes as Covid-19 continues to surge in Washington state, where the company is headquartered, as well as across the U.S.
