"Governor" kemp (GA) just overruled the local mask mandates

My county and several others just implemented mandatory mask requirements, and now kkkemp is stepping in to stop it.

I really don't get it. Why is he doing this? It's completely self defeating if he really wants to get Georgia's economy back on track.

Is he experiencing psychosis due to an active but undiagnosed covid-19 infection?

Or is it that he is actively trying to kill the people who won't vote for him?

2. It's a mindset. White males in the GOP think they are entitled. They are anti-government.

As long as people like Kemp are in government positions, they will undermine anything that interferes with that mindset.

19. not a mindset..a trumpian mind-meld...

remember Kemp was the first governor to "open" his state...gyms, bars, restaurants...he sacrificed his state to make Trump happy...to save Trump's economy..and in doing so Georgia is now a covid hotspot..my daughter lives in Atlanta and she says there is no way in hell Kemp has the ability to close the state again and he knows it...

4. My guess-

He’s a trumper.
He knows the trumpers in his state won’t comply.
He wants to stick it to the libs and Atlanta.
He chooses trump over the health and welfare of the citizens of the state.
He’s a maga cult member.

9. 4/2/20 - Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, who resisted strict coronavirus measures, says he just learned it transmits asymptomatically

Health officials have been saying that for two months.

April 2, 2020 | By Aaron Blake

After resisting a statewide stay-at-home order for days, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) succumbed to the pressure and issued one on Wednesday. Part of the reason, he said, was that he had just learned some new information.

Kemp said he was “finding out that this virus is now transmitting before people see signs.”

“Those individuals could have been infecting people before they ever felt bad, but we didn’t know that until the last 24 hours,” he said. He added that the state’s top doctor told him that “this is a game-changer.”

It may have been a game-changer, but it was a game-changer weeks or even months ago. That’s when health officials started emphasizing that asymptomatic people are transmitting the coronavirus. The idea that Kemp didn’t know this is striking. But he’s merely the latest top politician to indicate that he’s unfamiliar with the science even as he’s making life-or-death decisions for his constituents.

I'm guessing he's not the best informed person on health matters.

20. There were asymptomatic people way back in January or February.

One of the first proven carriers into EU nations was a guy from the UK who had been visiting China, was asymptomatic and spread it around two or three nations before it was discovered he was infected.

That story was all over U.S. and international news outlets and had epidemiologists saying "oh shit".

The ignorance of people who only listen to or read from bubble-isolated right wings sources are killing American citizens every day.

To me, this represents criminal negligence because all government officials of this standing should have been given very thorough, professional briefings on this disease early in the game.

10. Is it legal for Kemp to do this?

I always thought local, lesser government entities are allowed to implement more stringent rules beyond state laws and rules so long as the measure is in the best interest of their constituents.

Oh wait, these are market-driven heartless Republicans.........

12. He wants Georgians to die. Plain and simple.

They've seen data showing higher transmission in urban areas, and higher rates amongst people of color, and think they get a net win of they let it run rampant. Voter suppression by body count.

He's obviously another treasonous trump ass licker. I don't care if these murderous governors are up for re election or not, but ads need to be run against them to protect Americans.

22. This is exactly what Texas did.

Then we had the big increase. The governor finally gave in and made masks mandatory, but it took every big city hospital to be full before having the courage to do it.

Because of Bottoms calling out Trump for violating mask order when he arrived in Georgia yesterday?
