Tuesday I hit the phone banks for Biden campaign

Volunteered for the Biden campaign. The woman who recruited me was super nice and cool. I will be watching an introductory zoom meeting followed by some general training and then they give you a script and phone list. I have always financially supported campaigns for the Democratic Party but first time actually volunteering and doing work. I am really looking forward to it and it is such an empowering feeling to be doing something active in my own little way. If these awful grim times are getting you down, volunteer for the campaign and get active. It is very therapeutic and victory in November will taste that much sweeter because you fought for it in the trenches. Love and peace and may you and your loved ones be safe and healthy.

You will get frustrated because most people either don’t answer or you get an answering machine.
But, on the rare occasions that you get a live person, it’s fun.

3. I have done this since John Kerry. I have posted here about it.

I come from a sales background. I have a couple things I always remember the script is good if you can't formulate your own thoughts and many can't. However the job is not to just read the script. Personalize your pitch. Talk about what the person on the other end of the line wants to talk about. When they start talking shut up and listen. I ask them the first couple of questions, but then I say part of my job is to let the party know what you are interested in. This is true as there is a notes section at end of script. Once people start talking that also means they are listening. I also try to explain why I am personally committed, people like that. Have fun and believe me you are gonna hear some stories.
