LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) A man in a wheelchair carrying a loaded handgun was one of three men arrested after a group of protesters confronted Los Angeles police officers in downtown L.A. Tuesday afternoon who were attempting to handle an unrelated mental health crisis.
The suspects were identified as 30-year-old Mario Chacon, 33-year-old Joshua Wilson and 52-year-old David Dixon.
[...]
Then, as officers were preparing to take the two women to a hospital, they were surrounded by a group of about 50 protesters who had been marching in the area, police said. The protesters began chanting let them go".
One of the protesters, who was in a wheelchair, later identified as Wilson, tried to punch an officer, police said. A second protester, identified as Chacon, tried to steal one officers baton and shove a second officer.

(19,035 posts)I didn't see a gun or a punch thrown. If it's not on tape, the cops were likely lying.

(7,947 posts)They broke that guy's wheelchair. That one cop did it deliberately. It must have been horrifying to be beaten like that and flung on the ground and separated from the chair.
Can it really be true that in this whole group of police officers (I saw one African American and a woman who weren't fully joining in, but were sort of "supportive" of the abuse) they all think this is the correct way to deal with protests?

(22,051 posts)It takes a lot of guts for a bunch of cops to throw a crippled guy out of a wheel chair.
It has to be fairly recent, since everyone is wearing masks.

(82,383 posts)Cops did not knock the chair over. There's a civilian with a checked shirt behind that looks like the one who did it. The guy rolled over and came out of the chair without cop action.

(6,423 posts)Wheel chair guy is a convicted felon & only 33, who had a gun on him, and he punched a police officer in the face before this video begins.

(82,383 posts)Minds made up before they know what happened. I'm noticing the left can be just as biased as the right. It's just about different things.
Brainfodder
(6,423 posts)In this case it looks the worst without context, I actually watched the first 30 secs or so, and the handling of the wheel chair guy was actually not as rough as I would have expected when I found out what he had done and his record?
People are angry AF and should be, pick the right fights though!
IKR, too many to pick from, Infrastructure and bullet proofing this Nov 3rd election from BS, now that's a starter kit?

Images of the activists being pulled out of their chairs are online.
While Columbus Police Dept has an earned reputation for brutal behavior, other law enforcement places do it as well.

(8,711 posts)Thank you Evilgelicals and everyone saying it billions of times, and printing it on currency. We will be blessed when we follow the so called preachings of his son, not just asking it over and over. Being blessed is not a spectators sport. We have to treat each other as though blessings have been awarded us all. I think blessings have to be earned. As it stands, we are not deserving of blessing right now, if ever. in our dark history, Thumping BuyBulls while treating humans like shit, as well as plants, trees, animals, water, air and generally everything that God is said to have created. Our species sucks. God may have had enough of our bullshit.
