Mary Trump unloads on Ivanka as one of the president's biggest enablers: 'She doesn't do anything'

https://www.alternet.org/2020/07/mary-trump-unloads-on-ivanka-as-one-of-the-presidents-biggest-enablers-she-doesnt-do-anything/

First daughter Ivanka Trump has long tried to depict herself as a “moderating” influence on President Donald Trump, but the president’s niece is now calling B.S. on that narrative.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Mary Trump shoots down the notion that Ivanka works behind the scenes to smooth out her father’s rough edges, and instead says that the president’s eldest daughter is more of an enabler than anything else.

“She doesn’t do anything,” Mary Trump said. “She spouts bromides on social media, but either she tries to have an impact and fails, or just isn’t interested in having an impact.”

The president’s niece added that, “I can’t think of one thing she’s done to show that she’s moderate or a moderating influence.”

She also said that Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, have taken over the roles of the president’s chief enablers that were filled by his father, Fred Trump, during his childhood.

He would call Jared cross town at 2, 3 in the morning, and Jared would fly over to Tump Tower and try to soothe his addled mind.

Trump cannot function without either Ivanka or Jared (or both) nearby. They are most certainly his enablers.

she's singing to the choir. The people who really need to hear her story are precisely the ones who will arrogantly refuse to hear it.

I've worked with what I call "arrogantly ignorant" people a bunch of times, and they were a royal pain in the ass. Not that they wouldn't listen to me -- I'm enough of an adult that I can deal with that -- but they just flat-out insisted they knew everything and refused to even see stuff that was staring them in the face. Arrogant assholes.

father. A classic coupling is for a narcissist man to marry a borderline female. He craves the idolization he gets from her when things are good. He becomes consumed to get that back when she flips to hating him. She thrills at being pursued so devotedly. To understand borderline personality disorder the book, “I Hate you, Don’t Leave Me”!is really good. The relationship is incredibly chaotic but they seem to last. The children are caught in the middle of the train wreck. Neither parent is able to consistently maintain an emotional bond with their children so they are left being emotionally abandoned over and over and over. This is the type of environment that leads to the development of personality disorders, especially narcissist, antisocial, and borderline. The cycle can continue for generations.

To show how it was they got this way, from the old whorehouse keeper down to the present generation.

I feel sorry for young Barron and his little cousins, but the adults all know what they are doing, and they are raising all those kids to be Trumps. By the time the kids are grown, they’ll be well-acclimated to the familial sociopathy.

I’ve read some really good reviews so far. We are on the list to get the book from the public library, and if I understood the librarian correctly, we are at the top of who gets to read it first.
