NEW YORK (AP) Hospital data related to the coronavirus pandemic in the U.S. will now be collected by a private technology firm, rather than the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention a move the Trump administration says will speed up reporting but one that concerns some public health leaders.
The CDC director said Wednesday that hes fine with the change even though some experts fear it will further sideline the agency.
The CDC has agreed to step out of the governments traditional data collection process in order to streamline reporting, Dr. Robert Redfield said during a call with reporters set up by the agencys parent, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
HHS officials recently posted a document on the agencys website that redirected hospitals daily reporting of a range of data meant to assess the impact of the coronavirus on them. TeleTracking Technologies, based in Pittsburgh, will now collect that information.

If Trump thinks he can manipulate the data with less than 4 months to go this is probably too little too late.

(18,672 posts)I simply can't believe we have to wait until November to end this since almost all of our checks and balances have failed to curb this cretin and his minions. I have a densely packed neutron bomb of rage deep inside from watching this ridiculous and dangerous shit show go on and on, and I wonder how many other Americans feel the same.
