Can't wait until this segment shows up somewhere online - it's well worth another watch.
He's fucking crazy and she has him now reduced to just babbling.
What really got me was when she said "even Canada won't let Americans into their country", that asshole had the absolute gall to say "why would you want to go to Canada when you live in the greatest country in the world?"
I screamed "FUCK YOU!", and my wife came in wondering what was going on.

(19,199 posts)lately I've been wondering a lot about how nice it must be sitting exactly where those two folks are sitting, watching the giant dumpster fire on the U.S. side of the border. Oh, to have the civility and national pride enjoyed by Canadians. Hopefully, one day soon, the U.S. will stop acting like the ignorant, neighborhood bully that no one can stomach.
Bernardo de La Paz
(49,001 posts)But there is also, as you suggest, some national pride in having done okay by international standards, so far.
For me, additionally I have a feeling that one way or another the US has to go through a rough experience to bring into focus for Americans what seems pretty clear to much of the world: Republicons GOP Greed Over People do not have the ideological orientation to properly govern America the way it really wants to be governed.
I think that the tRump-virus Disaster may be less dire than the other calamities that could have befallen the US and might yet do so. I can only hope it is sufficient to shake America and Americans out of their cruise-control-for-stupids complacency and join the rest of the world.

(49,001 posts)US politicians like tRump can stab Canada and its economy grievously for small political gain. Some like tRump have no empathy. Others do but are power-mad.
And catastrophe by negligence or stupidity in the US risks being amplified in Canada. It is sometimes said in regard to the economy that if the US catches a cold Canada gets pneumonia.
There has been an excruciating metaphor going around that captures some of the fear and horror we view today's USA with: It is like living above a meth lab that just got a big delivery of ingredients and has a line of customers out the door.
SergeStorms
(19,199 posts)that's pretty much how I view it, but I live within the meth lab.
The Canadian border is an hours drive from where I live. I travel to Canada often. Toronto is in my top 5 cities in the world. I can't go there anymore, and I can't see that changing for probably 6 months to a year. Trump has to go, and the Americans who support and worship people like Trump must be placed back under the rocks from whence they came.
Hello, and good health to all of my friends, and friends I haven't met yet, in the great country of Canada!

(5,294 posts)I would have had two vacations in Canada at this point in the summer.
The Richmond Night Market is 320 miles away. Whistler is 400 miles away. Jasper National Park is 730 miles. Banff is 780. The Butchart Gardens is 250 miles (including Ferry).
Vancouver has Nando's Chicken. And there are Tim Horton's everywhere.

(67,782 posts)....to Toronto the second week of June. I cancelled that back in March, figuring I could reschedule in October. It doesn't look like that's going to happen.
I have an uncle and two aunts all over 90. But even if I could get up there I'm sure I wouldn't be permitted to visit them anyway.

I'm guessing today's video will show up later tonight or tomorrow.
Here's that one, it's on Youtube:

(19,199 posts)on MSNBC last week. "That's bullshit". I wish I could remember what it was in reference to. I was shocked. I'm surprised she didn't die from embarrassment, because she's usually prim and proper, but she has a temper as well, and Trump doesn't bring out the best of her. I'm surprised everyone on the news networks aren't throwing out a constant barrage of expletive laced diatribes at this point of the Trump debacle. I know I'd never be able to contain myself.

She has emerged as a premier host and interviewer. She is vastly superior to her CNN colleagues in her ability to ask probing, thought provoking and penetrating questions.

(20,577 posts)(actually I pretend that I live there) They talk about what they can do to help out, like shopping at small businesses to make sure they survive. If Canada would let us in, I am sure there would be a logjam at the border right now.
George II
(67,782 posts)....I would have moved up there.
By a quirk of Canadian law, a year before I was born, in 1947, they passed a law that grants anyone born after that time to at least one Canadian citizen, no matter what country, automatic citizenship.
My mother was Canadian but lived in NYC since she was about 10 years old. I was born in 1948, so I'm a Canadian citizen as well as a citizen of the US. At this stage of my life I'm just too old to pick up and move up there. But I sure wish I could.
KT2000
(20,577 posts)moved there last year. She is in Montreal living in a condo with her son and his partner. The first floor is stores including pharmacy and grocery and the second floor is for medical clinics. She planned to drive to the US to use her Medicare though but she has managed phone visits with doctors in the building (Covid-19). She is working through a grandparents visa.
She is happy there.
