Their all volunteer mission:

The Mission
What we're about

We want the over 30 million of us who are relying on the FPUC $600 to take bold action. We offer tools and talking points to make it easy. We want every citizen informed and well spoken on this issue, as well as empowered and supported in taking action that makes a difference.

We Want It To Be Clear to Every AMerican that:

1. The Senate works for you. You are allowed to demand that they meet your needs. You may need to be very loud to be heard, but you can and you should. There is no room for inaction in an issue this dire.

2. You have to call your Senator. You can also plan a town hall. You can reach out to press. We will help you. We can do this together.

3. This is not just “some” people’s problem and it’s not unsolvable. Billionaires and corporations have been bailed out during this pandemic to the tune of billions of dollars. $600 for citizens is not the problem here. We should not be pitted against each other on this.

WE WANT SENATORS TO:

1. First and foremost, extend the full $600/week FPUC as soon as they return to DC on July 20 (before it expires July 25). None of the proposed “compromises” on this are acceptable. Back to work bonuses, motivating a premature return to unsafe working environments, are not acceptable. Stimulus checks for only those who made less than $40,000, when over 30 million people are unemployed, are not acceptable. Attaching benefit availability to a state’s unemployment rate when 11% can encompass whole industries and COVID-19 numbers continue to rise, is unacceptable.

2. Extend PUA until the pandemic is over and further expand who is eligible for UI. Give unemployment benefits to job seekers and working people, including immigrants, who have been excluded.

3. Fund and support states’ government agencies to strengthen their unemployment systems so they may process backlogged and new claims immediately.

4. Offer comprehensive relief to front-line workers and people in disproportionately affected industries including restaurants, hospitality, travel, fitness, arts, events, and entertainment.

5. Extend health care relief including:

100% subsidy for the COBRA program to protect workers’ healthcare, and extension of eligibility to 36 months.

Expansion of Medicaid and requiring, not just allowing, all states to extend Medicaid coverage for COVID-19 testing to the uninsured.

A continued open enrollment period until the pandemic is over for all people to access or change their health insurance based on their new financial situations.

6. Allow all non-profits fair access to government economic support in the Paycheck Protection Program – including labor unions.

7. Offer comprehensive rent and mortgage relief.

8. Provide an actionable response to the COVID-19 pandemic that actually flattens the curve and reigns in states who are losing control.

We want empathy and leadership from

the American government during a global pandemic.

Weird, we know.
WHO WE ARE
Our 100% Volunteer Based effort

ExtendPUA.org was created by two members of the entertainment industry who are currently unemployed due to COVID-19 and are relying on the FPUC $600 to pay their bills. They noticed despair, but little individual momentum, around the FPUC expiration and wanted to offer a resource for people to easily take clear and informed actions.

We are joined by a team of incredible volunteers, most of whom are also members of the entertainment industry.
