(4,064 posts)Such a beautiful, beautiful statement from Dan Rather. Made me cry.
What a moral giant we have lost.
When he announced he had pancreatic cancer, I started praying and I've prayed for him every day since. It seemed so hard to lose Elijah Cummings and it was unbearable to also know we were likely to lose John Lewis, while we are in the throes of a national emergency like this with Trump.
Thank you, John Lewis, for a lifetime of courage, integrity, and of lifting us all up.

(3,799 posts)He left our country a better place....continuing King's fight to bend the arc of history toward justice.
Millions are now in the streets demanding justice and confronting our nation's historic truths. These people, mostly young, will continue John Lewis' work until the dream, articulated on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963, is realized.
