(9,650 posts)I live alone, and I've been walking around the house for the past hour saying 'fuck 2020.'
I'm ready to put that on a sign and put it in my front yard and piss off all the neighbors.

(100,055 posts)The only thing that would redeem it is that Biden pounds Trump into submission in the election. But that's about it.

She has 2 very fuzzy black kitties that are going to miss her.

(22,023 posts)Yet in spite of Trump, Covid-19, Trump, the economy tanking, Trump, self-quarantining without enough toilet paper, Trump, Zoom meetings/lessons, Trump, resistance to Black Lives Matter, Trump, the fall of Confederate symbols, Trump and more Trump, there have been some highlights that have been pretty good for me.
Because of the self-isolations, my wife and I have spent a tremendous amount of time together which we've enjoyed immensely. We've turned our meals into mini-events. We plan "dates" so we can feel some romance. And we've taken to exploring the mountains around us where we retreated from NYC.
In order to create some structure in each day, I make a point of working for several hours in the morning, then we meet up for lunch. The afternoons are filled with chores around the property, long nature/health walks and canoe trips. If the weather is nice we'll have our cocktails down by the Delaware River before making dinner. This loose structure helps prevent each day from feeling like a Sunday.
In many ways, these past months have felt like semi-retirement and it doesn't suck!
There are so many awful things happening in our world, many of them thanks to Trump, but the optimist in me searches for positives while we're in this morass. My perspective isn't naivety but rather my coping mechanism when faced with these seemingly intractable problems.
However, I'll be very glad when Joe trounces Trump and we can move into a better world.
