These rankings change weekly, so if your favorite isn't ranked where she should be -- or isn't even on the list -- there's always next week. Necessary Michelle Obama caveat: The former first lady is not on this list because she has never indicated an interest in being a politician. If she did so, she would immediately jump to the top of these rankings.

10. Tammy Baldwin



10. Tammy Baldwin: The senator from Wisconsin would be more than just a geographic pick: she would make history as the first known gay person on a major national-party ticket. There's not much buzz around her at the moment, however, as the importance of Biden winning any single swing state has faded sonewhat. (Previous ranking: 9)

9. Karen Bass



9. Karen Bass: The California congresswoman is the least well-known person on the list. But as chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus she is right in the thick of the national conversation about race and policing in the country. And her time spent in the leadership of the California State Assembly -- she became speaker in 2008 -- gives her the sort of governing experience that we know Biden prizes in a VP. 8. Elizabeth Warren



8. Elizabeth Warren: The senator from Massachusetts is a pick to unite a fractured party. The Democratic Party, at the moment, doesn't look very fractured. Plus, if Biden sees the VP pick as his chance to begin grooming the leader of the next generation of Democratic politicians, Warren, at age 71, doesn't fit that bill. (Previous ranking: 7)

Are these the rankings of readers of the Omaha Herald, of Chris Cillizza? It doesn’t say (that I found, with only two sips of coffee, so maybe I missed it).

But I have to say. Who really cares what Chris Cillizza (or anyone) thinks about the chances for these women? It’s JoeBiden’s analysis that will determine the choice in the end, so all this is just a lot of mind-gaming

2. So many good possibilities

But my current rankings:

1. Susan Rice
2. Kamala Harris
3. Val Demmings
4. Tammy Duckworth

I don't think Atlanta's mayor has enough experience yet, but I like her. I think Rice has the gravitas and international experience we're gonna need. But they're all good.

My friends and I love dreaming about the new administration. Our bench is deep and diverse---unlike the current collection of unqualified swamp creatures (aka the Kool Aid drinkers and kinfolk).

4. an exercise in futility

Outside of Joe Biden's campaign inner circle, any speculation on Joe Biden's choice for vice president is just that. Pure speculation. As a matter of fact the closest anyone will come are those people who list multiple possible choices. That's easy enough for anyone to do.
