(40,476 posts)Reagan managed to say a few words for the cameras, and that's what was on television, but he was a confused old man who didn't know where the hell he was or what he was doing there, being pushed around by his handlers.
I know it's U.S. tradition for the press to ignore a President's infirmities, the most famous example being FDR's wheelchair, but dementia isn't something that should be ignored.
The current situation is reminiscent of Woodrow Wilson's stroke in 1919.
