Kanye West asks fans to help get him on South Carolina's presidential ballot

Rapper asks supporters to sign petition calling for him to be added to state’s ballot as doubts persist over how seriously to take his bid

Press Association in Los Angeles

Kanye West has asked fans to sign a petition calling for him to be added to the presidential election ballot in South Carolina.

Kanye West will appear on Oklahoma presidential election ballot

The rap superstar announced he was running for the White House on 4 July, tweeting: “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States.”

But doubts persist over how seriously to take his bid.

I thought he said he wasn't running. I've been personally trying to ignore this story because I didn't think he was serious but this seems to be the first sign that he is.

I'm not sure if this is bipolar mania or intentional performance art. This absolutely cannot be a serious candidacy.

The only sympathy I have for someone with his means who chooses not to avail himself of treatment is that apparently his life is full of hangers-on, sycophants, enablers, and parasites, and apparently no one who loves him enough to keep him from making a fool of himself. To hell with the lot of them.

I don't understand why this is the conclusion that people jump to. Black voters don't automatically vote for black candidates just because they are black.

There have been polls asking people their approval of West, the only group that had him above about 10% approval was REPUBLICANS. A recent poll that included West had trump doing a points or two better when he was OFF the ballot.

In short, Kanye hurts Trump.

"Black voters don't automatically vote for black candidates just because they are black."

...Herman Cain and Ben Carson. GOPers clearly thought those two could help lure us away from the Democratic party and into the GOP tent, but the support wasn't there for either of them. BC is a brilliant neurosurgeon, but clueless about politics, and HC is a nutcase pizzaman.
