The problem with trying to control the narrative in the middle of a pandemic is that the damn virus always keeps styling the mic back.
We're coming up on 140,000 deaths, and will hit 150,000 by the end of August at this rate. If discoveries about the difficulty of the body to produce long term antibodies is any indication, even if it does start dwindling again (and it will), it will get worse in the fall as the first wave of immunity wears off and people start spending more time together again.
Trump's convention is turning into a bust already, and he's going to be hard-pressed to fill any arena for photo-ops. Biden's will be low key but well planned because they've accepted that the virus will be a factor. You can already feel the momentum shifting - even the talking heads are talking about what Biden will need to do after the election. The smart GOP politicians are beginning to distance themselves from Trump, and the Democrats are boxing them in by painting them as being Trump sycophants. That's usually a very good sign leading up to an election.
