Twitter has taken down a campaign-style video retweeted by President Donald Trump after rock group Linkin Park issued a cease-and-desist order over the unauthorized use of their music, media reports said.
The video, which featured a cover of the band's 2001 hit "In the End," was posted by White House social media director Dan Scavino and retweeted on Saturday by Trump.
The tweet now says: "This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner."
Linkin Park said they did not authorize the use of their music by Trump or his campaign.

(34,058 posts)Here, once a complaint is made - Twitter has to choose whether to die on the hill with Trump (by accepting copyright infringement liability) or block the material.
Beyond that - although the venues usually have a license to play the music (which extends to anyone rentintg the venue), they are not free to take videos of that rally and replay them or repackage them without a new license. While I'm pretty sure Trump obtained a license directly (or by extension from the venue) - I doubt anyone on his campaign recognizes that he needs a separate license for reuse of the music that is in the background in their videos.
