Trump took a clinical test for dementia and by his own account he struggled with the questions.

https://www.rawstory.com/2020/07/trump-ridiculed-after-5-cognitive-questions-he-called-very-hard-during-fox-interview-are-revealed/

During his combative interview with Fox News host Chris Wallace, Donald Trump defended his boast that he “aced” a test he was given by doctors to test his cognitive abilities by stating that the last five questions were “very hard” and that he doubted the Wallace would be able to answer them.

That led internet sleuths to look up those five questions that the president assigned a high degree of difficulty and, as the Daily Beast’s Julia Davis tweeted (along with an image also published by the Las Vegas Sun), the test taker would be asked ” “What day is it?” and “Where are you?”

Just a copy of what it was. Show us how difficult it really is and verify that is one given to other patients. There should be no reason not to if it's worth bragging about. No way they will. Especially with him claiming it was tough.

I had to answer some questions to show I was of “sound mind”. One of the questions was, “who is the president of the US “. My answer, “I refuse to say that name.” That was enough- I passed.

The remembering three random words after 5 minutes really tripped him up.

However, when he came home, he practiced counting backwards, drawing the clock, etc. He even figured out tricks to help remember three random words. There is no doubt he would have passed the test with practice during his early stage dementia. He later took a much more extensive test and received "treatment" for the condition.

My dad never denied being diagnosed with dementia though. He found it frustrating until the very end. As a family, we expected to see the decline of motor and mental skills, but were not prepared for the change in personality and behavior.

I see that in Trump.

clues would trip up most people, including high functioning people. That is the part of the test that I would have likely not gotten right if I was taking it, the rest of the test was extremely easy.

I never remember names. Have a terrible memory. Five random words after five minutes? No way. In fact, I'd give up before even trying -- just mark that down as a fail.

FFS! The 'test' was neither an IQ test, nor a test of any basic knowledge. It was a cognitive test to see if the person't brain is working at a basic level and not suffering from a concussion or something. It isolates symptoms of strokes and shit. Any functional grade school kid could probably pass it.

Trump is bragging about passing 3rd grade here.

At least I don't think so. I've seen those things in the past and I've never had a problem doing them.

In addition to the world falling apart, my body has been having all kinds of issues and I can't get medical treatment due to the virus. So it's stress plus around here.

The next time I see my GP, I'm going to ask her to give me one of these tests. Just to be on the safe side.

Stress messes you up in so many ways. Out of curiosity I took the test again right after my husband passed after a long illness. I did not do well at all - not quite as bad as just after my stroke.

Situational stress is really hard to do anything about. I joined an online caregiver group, gained a lot of weight and about lost my marbles. Oh I functioned fine until about 2 weeks after he died, and then I completely fell apart. I forgot how to use an ATM. I had 3 days straight I could not tie shoes. It was that bad. I'm still finding things I put in some dumbass place during the month of December.

Some people get through it better. They run, or meditate or whatever. I'll assume you do what you can in your situation to mitigate stress. So outside of that, let just say my heart is with you.

You just helped me more than you can possibly know.

What you wrote just brought back some memories of a time in my past where I was severely stressed. Bad relationship stuff. I got in the shower one day and when it was time to turn the shower off, I couldn't remember how to do it! I just stood in the shower and cried and cried because I couldn't remember how to turn off the water. That was a good 25 years ago.

What you wrote jogged that memory loose for me.
And as that happened, I realized I am pretty much in the same stress overload, different reasons, but it feels exactly the same. So I'm not losing my mind. I am just stressed beyond belief. Time for some serious self care. And you reminded me of that too.

Thank you and bless you!

it was given after his trip to the hospital a few months ago. It was never announced why he went, and the WH tried to say it was part of his "normal" periodic physical.

Like most things Trump, it sounds like bullshit.

In fact, in the beginning I missed almost everything. About 8 months into recovery then I started getting closer to the "normal" range for performance.

My guess is DJT was told he aced it and actually didn't.
