I watched the interview Trump had with Chris Wallace. Wallace made some statement about fatalities and Trump replied that the US was number one in Covid_19. Then he called for someone to give him a piece of paper; he looked at it and said, "US NUMBER ONE IN FATALITIES". This was a blatant and deliberate lie. The US is near the bottom in the fatality rate.

He considers being number one in deaths a good thing. He considers being number one at anything is good thing. The rest of us don't.

PS - Regarding Fatality RATE - you have to look at the numbers that go into the percentage. If you look at deaths per confirmed cases, then we are in the middle somewhere. If you look at deaths per capita then the rate is lower.

I think you're right -- Trump didn't read past the title of the report, saw the US is "number one in fatalities," and figured that means we're the best.

The US has the 10th highest COVID19 death rate at 433 per million population. Number 1 is San Marino at 1,238 per million, but the population is very small and they have only had 42 deaths.

Trump talks like he just glimpsed some headline about the fatality rate. Any real president would have paid constant attention to the information. (Think of Obama during Ebola... which killed only 2 in America.)

Then Trumpers do their best to avoid even the headlines. How could they possibly not have noticed 140,000 deaths in 3 months? They refuse to notice, even though it's in the news all the time. Maybe OANN never mentions the deaths.
