Democrats keep having to clean up Republican messes. When is our turn to advance America?

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/democrats-keep-having-to-clean-up-republican-messes-when-is-our-turn-to-advance-america/ar-BB16WVxZ

"Many Americans have not yet grasped that every time they have given Republicans the keys to the White House over the past half-century, they turn to Democrats to extinguish the fire. This arrangement hampers party priorities each time Democrats come to power because their first orders of business are to clean up the ashes. Once the country is sturdy enough, the electorate returns to Republicans to get a little extra walking around cash in the form of marginal tax cuts, and Democratic policy goes back underground."

FDR used the Depression for the biggest advances in US history.
Obama did some, like the ACA, but could have used the crash to do so much more.
A very big win for Biden and the Dems in November gives us a mandate to make big advances.
Cleaning up the mess means passing legislation that fixes the causes.
Taxing the Rich and Wall Street reform must be part of it.

Read, since JKF, MLK, & RFK. IMO, when those three were assassinated, it took a lot of progressive wind out of our sails. And I think there's been a denial on our side, since then, to face just how anti-American the other side has become.

The people who call themselves republicans today were only ever in favor of representative government as long as they were at the top of the hierarchy and calling the shots. And they had a good run at it, too, since they built the system and put themselves at the top and in charge. But once the uppity women, people of color, and gays started demanding equality and equity in the system, their little conservative minds couldn't handle it & they've been working tooth & nail to rig the system in their favor ever since and they are almost there.

Until dem leadership comes to terms with that fact, we are sunk. The electorate will give us four, maybe eight years to clean up all the shit the Con threw, and if we don't do it good enough or fast enough they will vote the repubs back in charge.

The answer to this is to GO BOLD. I don't think Biden or dem leadership have that in them. They will extend an olive branch to the other side and try to work with them, even though I read that McConnell has almost given up on a Trump win and is now working on how to thwart a Biden presidency. And yet, I read that our side invited ex-gov John Kasich to speak at our convention. How special. An anti-choice, retired republican is going to get national attention on our stage. What the actual fuck? We have sharp, liberal young dems we could give that time to, not some has-been, anti-choice repub. JFC.
