There's a likely candidate for the vaccine from Moderna being fast-tracked already, and it is moving into a larger Phase 3 testing protocol at the end of July.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if Trump has insisted that he be given the vaccine. He wouldn't disclose that, of course, but he has enough clout to insist that the pharmaceutical company involved include him in the current larger test group. The Trump administration and FDA will play a large role in selecting the vaccine to be used in a large-scale rollout, so there's an opportunity to do some heavy pushing on the part of the Administration.
I'm betting he has had the vaccine by now. Maybe his family and a few close associates, as well.

Some are in trials, but they wouldn't have a sitting president in a trial.
He is not on any vaccine. Full stop.

(34,066 posts)I made decisions about radiation therapy following my breast cancer based, in part, on the commitments I had made to others. One would think that the president of the United States ought to consider his commitments to others when engaging in potentially risky behavior.
But . . . incredibly stupid is precisely what he does all the time, and he doesn't care one whit about any commitments to anyone else.

(4,448 posts)They don't test experimental drugs on the President. Instead they heavily screen everyone around him.
While I suppose he could insist, the pharma's are not government ran companies. They don't answer to the President. They can say no.
I can just imagine a pharma's lawyers and board going apeshit at the thought of testing on the President. If it went wrong the company would be -DEAD-, Dead and dead.
