Lots of talk about Trump not accepting results of the election after Nov., Well hVe to see what happens. So after all voter suppression fails and he gets slaughtered, His last play is to deny results and use the constitution to Have states not verify electoral. My question, if he sees he lost, and McConnell, Graham, Collins, Ernst, et al get slaughtered, do we not believe they will also do everything to deny the vote to keep their jobs. How far down will the voiding results go? To states, counties, cities and how long then will they keep the congress appointed positions, 4 years or a new election?

(15,938 posts)All of their terms end in January 2021. Senators who were up for election, House members, and the President. So if the whole thing blows up (it just might!), then we have no government.
If all the Repug Senators lose, then I wouldn't be surprised if they join Ass Face in contesting the election. The problem for them in particular is that the elections are run by their own states. If the SOS and Board of Elections certify the results, then it's difficult for them to say it was fraudulent.
Can you believe that we are actually having this conversation????

(10,985 posts)Dont want to think of it, certainly will vote and get sick doing so if need be. But I damn well believe trump will not be the only one trying not to leave, and the evilpower of McConnell and Graham with Fox News is not to be underestimated. Thank you for your answer and response.

(1,648 posts)I'm sure he and the rest of his Republican enablers don't want to deal with President Nancy Pelosi if they refuse to accept election results.
Am I right about this process?

Career government employees and law enforcement will immediately turn on them as well.

(15,938 posts)Except that if all the elections are challenged - House races too - then there would be zero reps in the House and only 67 (or so) Senators. The succession goes President - VP - Speaker of the House, but I think that would only happen if the President and VP are both hit by a bus on the same day. If there is a tie in the Electoral vote, then there is a process that takes place in the House where each state gets one vote - which would give the election to Trump (assuming every Republican House member votes for him). We hold more seats, but they have more states.
All these interesting things I have learned by being on DU!

Thats why it is imperative to flip your state governments Democratic.

Read the Tenth Amendment. It gives states a LOT of latitude.

(10,985 posts)We had McCrury refuse to leave in NC. Cooper took over after a while. The GOP prick was promised a victory from Puty, and voter fraud was suppose to give him the win. HE Could not believe he lost. Seems to be a GOP tactic of late to refuse results.
