Six months of COVID-19 in the US

The first known case of COVID was in Everett WA, where I live, six months or so today. The individual had returned from Wuhan China and was beginning to exhibit pneumonia like symptoms.

He was treated at Providence Hospital and eventually recovered.

Later cases were not so successful.

Here we are on July 20 and we have more cases than any other country.

143,032 so far have died. That's more than any war with the exception of the Civil War and WWII.

We have a president who's a total moron and doesn't have the first clue of what to do outside of bluster and bullshit.

Buckle up and hold on. It's going to be a tough 4+ months before we see change.

And god help us with what that monster will do with his senate GOP enablers in the final two month after the election.

Is it even possible to go back at this point? Even if Covid is eventually dealt with by a vaccine, I fear the long term effects it will inflict on our society. We've become a nation where 1/3 of the population is fanatically devoted to their leader like some kind of death cult, brick and mortar/small businesses/restaurants have never been in a worse condition, and it seems like we're just paying everyone to stay home ordering everything online from Amazon. A lot of the jobs lost to Covid won't be coming back right away, and we've seen one of the greatest transfers of wealth to the top 1% in a while. The middle class and poor get crushed, and the rich get richer.

How the hell do we fix all this? Getting Trump out of office is a start, but that's just the beginning. We need to radically rethink our economy and society.

It makes my head hurt even just trying to think of a way out of this disaster. So much needs to change.
