Of the struggle against racism, Southern fascism, white Gestapo tactics, the whole shebang. I see it now not as honoring a racist, but a milestone in our history.

The problem with the confederate statues is that they honored traitors. The very name, Pettus, is to me now dishonorable.

But I'm fine with renaming it if that's what everyone wants. I'd also like to see the state university law school building renamed after Lewis and a statue in front of it!
