Missouri Gov. insists kids must go back to school even though 'they will' get COVID-19

'They’re going to get over it'

WASHINGTON – Missouri Governor Mike Parson, a Republican, downplayed the risk for children who may contract the coronavirus from classrooms during school reopenings, insisting “they’re going to get over it.”

“These kids have got to get back to school,” Parson said in an interview Friday with radio host Marc Cox on KFTK. “They’re at the lowest risk possible. And if they do get COVID-19, which they will — and they will when they go to school — they’re not going to the hospitals. They’re not going to have to sit in doctor’s offices. They’re going to go home and they’re going to get over it.”

His comments come during a nationwide debate over school reopenings as the pandemic continues to rage across the United States.

Some experts have expressed concerns about returning to classrooms because of the risk students could carry the virus home to older relatives. Education professionals have also expressed worry they may be in harm's way.

They're going to go home and give it to their parents and grandparents, who are then going to go to hospitals and sit in doctors offices. Does this idiot think that kids live at home by themselves?

I don't think these idiots can "think". The are doing whatever trump tells them to do, and we all know trumps wants "all" the kids back in school, for his own selfish reasons.

And those who recover will have lifelong problems from it; some very serious.
This governor is an idiot asshole.

I know kids are considered generally less vulnerable to COVID than adults and particularly the elderly, but certainly a percentage will die, and many more will have extensive health problems. The governor doesn't seem to care about that.

from starting kindergarten until next year.
He has had breathing problems (RSV) since birth.
If something happened to him, it would kill the rest of the family just from the grief. They went through a lot to have him and probably won’t be able to have another one as hoped.

I think of the families who have already lost members and it just starts me crying again. It just seems so hopeless.
Then there are the maskless who could care less about doing any little thing to try to halt the spread and I just get so mad at them.
How many more?

their teachers and other staff at the school, parents and other family members. Their bus drivers.

Nor will we allow any talk about the children who will go home and NOT get over it. The ones who will, in fact, die of Covid.

No one will be allowed to mention the children who will survive Covid but who will be left with damaged lungs, kidneys and hearts.

Shhhh, mum’s the word.
