I live in monkeys ass red Western North Carolina. For 20 years I have had Direct TV, now owned by AT&T. I never wanted to pay the additional charge for local TV so I always had New York feeds for ABC, CBS and NBC. Also Paid extra for the California feeds of those same stations to have a 3 hour delay to see missed shows. Two months ago AT&T said Congress passed a bill making that illegal. Now I HAVE to view local and it it packed with pro trump commercials and Tillis, all making me vomit. Plus a Heavy helping of Jesus shows. Congress does not want Red states to be exposed to librul feeds like New York and California. Media is out to, no, already is, brain washing us all for oligarchy takeover. This country and GOP conservatives are destroying Democracy and this country. With Russian help. Our right to vote being destroyed. We ARE at Fucking War. While we are distracted by trump hell, right/white wing Congress is fucking this country up,

Except a few months back when I participated in a local protest against the Idiot-in-Chief. It was an upbeat and passionate march in our town square. Lots of people driving by honking their support (OK, and a few middle fingers). But to watch the news that night on that channel, you would have thought it was Armageddon!
No more.
Sorry you are forced to pay for that crap. I'm still on cable and they won't disengage Fox from the "package" of channels.

(10,985 posts)Is a remote control. I have worn out the buttons switching during commercial slots (GOP campaign slots). Not much I care to see on those three networks. But I did enjoy New York and Cali commercial breaks. Free Speech TV and some MSNPC work fine for me. I do hate when watching Fallon and Cobert, to get caught off guard and pro trump shit sneaks up on me. I actually hate to have to watch Weather channel 362, because stink from Fox 360 might creep into my home. Dont ever wanna be near that wave length of sickness.

I will not watch either.
I'll wait for the comedy comic book version.

(19,139 posts)Get what I want on the (still) available internet channels.
There was a great period of creativity in the 80's (/90's?) when having a T.V. seemed to make sense. PBS and MASH and BBC programs.
In the 90's it became so commercialized (and I HATE ads) that it wasn't worth the floor space.
For me I describe the experience as being fed something from some channel's tube (linear) vs. looking for what interests me and choosing when to watch and how much.
