(24,406 posts)until January 3. Then RBG could resign and the Democratic Senate could refuse to take up any nominees and let them fume over that for a couple of weeks

(6,448 posts)The way she's dwelling on this issue, Justice Ginsburg should receive Secret Service protection.
Ernst seems criminally insane.

(16,089 posts)they all would.
They are all hoping and praying that RBG dies, so they can put someone truly horrific in her seat, within a few days of her passing.
I hope she has the last laugh and comes to the inauguration of the new president, right before she retires.

(16,089 posts)they will wail and rend their garments over the idea of EVER filling any post...SOCTUS, Judiciary, Cabinet, pretty much anything will cause them to whine about how they are being 'steamrolled'.
If they hold the Senate, I don't even see a single cabinet pick getting even brought up for a vote.

(57,393 posts)Even if you accept Ernst's wriggling, there is a precedent for same party nominee being blocked so close to an election. A GOP minority filibustered Fortas, claiming it was too close to the election and the new president should decide. Google the Thurmond Rule.
