I just got back from the Acme Market near Atlantic City, and the aisles were shopped as they normally are but the GOYA aisle looked as though it was restocked five minutes before I got there or people arent buying it. I will check periodically but it was pristine. Not certain as to mechanism. We shall see.

Also, that's a lot of Goya. Was this in the Latino ethnic food section?

(10,885 posts)I've been ordering all rice items online.
My Stop & Shop has a sizable Goya section, right next to other vegetable brands, and the difference is notable. While other brands are obviously selling, the Goya cans sit untouched.
I like Goya products, but the competition brands are certainly adequate for my needs. Goya does seem to have nicer quality, such as larger, firmer beans (esp. garbanzo), but I care where my $$$ go, so will buy others instead.

(65,000 posts)I'm really confused why there are shortages of anything anymore.
At least, in the consumer product arena.
Most of these manufacturers were considered essential in all states.
The panic buying ended over 3 months ago.
There is almost nothing that isn't fully stocked.
I'll say wipes & disinfectant cleaners are among those that aren't, but I'm still talking 60 or 75%. Empty shelf space, but product there.
We have noticed zero food products short for several weeks now.

(268,949 posts)Don't use canned food period, but we always have dried beans in stock. Just replenished this year's hurricane supply and deliberately bought no Goya.
We get fresh kidney beans at the market - pigeon peas are now out of season until October.

(253 posts)I was just at Target yesterday in Longmont, CO and saw only one brand of beans---yep, Goya! I did not buy any beans. The shelves are typically stocked with other brands so I am not sure whether the Goya aren't selling or what.

Rice on the shelves? Aren't you the lucky one! None to be found around here, even in the warehouse stores. I've had to order the 72 oz. box of Minute Rice online.

(51,584 posts)in San Diego last Fri and it was fully stocked at 7PM. I asked the clerk if this was due to a boycott and he said hardly anybody buys Goya on a regular basis and they always look fully stocked. That says something about their product when a large portion of the population is Hispanic. I think Goya must suck a lot and they have to push it at the W House.

(51,584 posts)Maybe if they cut their price to be more competitive they would not have to do an infomercial at the W House.

(26,500 posts)better quality. As mentioned before. I hate Sazón. A good adobo, can be found in other brands or easily mixed at home.

(1,789 posts)The photo ops with the beans were surely an attempt to smooth things over. I feel a little sorry for him, but he should have known not to wade into these political waters. Most businesses avoid that very thing, but when forced to pick a side, they see the numbers and those are not with Trump.
