Is she trying to be firm but cooperative where it's clear she's in charge?

she clearly stated earlier that they would not have unnamed unidentified federal goons from ICE and border patrol roaming the streets of Chicago

She also says she personally knows and trusts the individual she is dealing with at the federal level

In Portland, DHS is calling graffiti artists “violent anarchists,” and is using “defacement of federal property” as an excuse to arrest and detain people.

I worry that the mayor is too trusting and is making a mistake.

7. As I mentioned in an earlier thread on this-- the FBI and other agencies are frequently...

called in to assist. Kidnapping across state lines, domestic terrorism, interstate drug dealing, gang activity... are examples of federal crimes where feds have priority, and can offer valuable assistance if they don't.

Refusal of these, and other similar, offers of assistance would be foolish.
