there is an element that trashes, loots and burns downtown Portland just about everytime there is a major protest. The appearance and I would say the reality is that the city officials and police give them a wide berth. They vandalized that Justice Center building on the first night and set a fire in it then picked at it just about every night for 50 + nights like a scab. Provoking an illegal assembly with the police on the other side. Just a small number of people fucking up the works. This is not normal. They trashed and burned downtown the night of the protest when Trump won back in November of 2016. This conflict at that building would never had ocurred if that vandalism and prolonged antagonism for nearly 2 months hadn't created it.
