It's so frustrating...

With a small group yesterday, some of us wearing masks, others not. Discussion turned to covid case counts and how most in the room didn't believe it and were actually angry over the information provided to them. Thank His Orangeness for that. I said, well, if you really want to believe in a conspiracy, how about Trump bypassing the CDC. Oh my, the way the flocked to the defense of the move. Yes, they said the CDC will still be involved. No, I said, not if they don't get their numbers directly, they'll likely be doing data analysis on under reported and otherwise inaccurate counts. The government fucks everything up, they said.

Then another guy asked me, the token Democrat in the room, how many kids have actually died from Covid. Two he said, so why shouldn't we open the schools. I fucking lost it. I actually raised my voice, (I usually don't when discussing politics) and said "You know BOB, it was NEVER about saving the kids, it's about saving the grandparents!" I stopped short of saying idiot at the end. Even then, they went into the "personal responsibility to stay safe" routine.

They really have no fucking clue.
Thanks for letting me rant.....

of the churches, just to start. And endless noise from the reichwing media.

A study I did in college about hitler and the nazis' rise to power talked about how writers, musicians, artists, etc., were paving the way over decades. It was fascinating and disturbing.

of citizens are much more intelligent than tRump would explain it? He fumbles and bumbles his way through every day, and I think some of them feel sorry for him. They need to explain WHY they think he is a legitimate president. Dumb as a stump and worried more about his "ratings" than deaths. Very poor reflection on the American citizens as a whole, defending this failure. He is being propped up by - WHO? The gop? Vlad Putin? Both? One thing is for sure, these ideas are not 100% his, he is being manipulated by one of the incompetent members of the administration. When this term is over, they will leave, taking all their ill gotten gains (from the US Treasury) with them.

when it's your child, it's 100%. Do they really want even one more child to die? No one is safe from this. If it was important to close the schools in the spring, with a fraction of active cases we have now, it's important to do it in the fall.

One thing this pandemic has proven is that we do need to tell people what to do because they fucking won't do the right thing when given a choice.

children have died from this, since all the numbers are being kept secret. This is a disgrace. Maybe if the whole TRUTH were being told, people would take this more seriously before it is too late. Covid-19 aside, the US is being destroyed by an incompetent, bumbling failure of a reality show freak. Plenty of other scumbags have jumped on the bandwagon, too. Hide the truth since it is too disgusting to reveal.

I'm just saying that even if the number is very small, it's too much to risk. I fully acknowledge that the numbers we're seeing are grossly underreported.

Someone who personally knew the first 2 people who died here told me that they both had cancer and they were both old. So no worries. Seriously! And she's convinced that they blamed COVID when cancer would have killed them anyway. There is no cutting through the stupidity that engulfs this state.

It's very upsetting to live in an area where there are still Republican yard signs up all over the place. They still do not realize who is killing them. Or they don't care. I knew they'd kill us all. I just wasn't sure what the vehicle would be.

Oh, and someone told me yesterday that he's scared to death of Biden b/c of Biden's tax plan. Are you freaking kidding? All the other shit going on and he's afraid of taxes? SMDH There is no hope.

Death isn't even the only metric that matters. We don't know anything about long term consequences of this virus. My husband's uncle is an old school neurologist who witnessed the Parkinson's spike attributed to the 1918 pandemic. Post enchephalitic Parkinson's was something that afflicted some survivors later in life.

I have two school age kids and the thought that I might expose them to something that could cause lifelong harm or lifelong risk keeps me up at night. It ought to keep our leaders up at night as well.

or almost daily, so he has no worries. The rest of the administration must too, since they seem unaware of what is happening out here in the REAL world. Miller's wife tested positive AFTER she was pregnant. Her child may not be completely in the clear, but she does not seem worried about that. If someone in the lofty halls of the WH or the senate got a truly serious case of this, maybe THEN it would be taken seriously?

The lack of critical thinking is very frustrating. On one hand the government phucks everything up can’t do anything right. On the other hand these same people have no problem with that same government going to war and sending their loved ones to a battlefield in harms way.

As for the government phucks everything up. I hear this a lot. People like to point to things like CPS, FDA, HUD, VA, Education or any department really that makes a visible i.e. on the news mistake without ever understanding why. 9 out of 10 times it is because the funding has been so drastically cut usually by the GOP that these departments can’t possibly perform their mission in a country this big with 328million people adequately. The GOP made great hay out of Benghazi not once did they ever mention that they (the GOP) has cut embassy’s security funding significantly a few yrs before that incident happend. This Pandemic and the 140,000+ dead Americans is a direct result of the GOP cutting funding and programs designed specifically to act rapidly as soon as an outbreak occurs... now I am venting as well but I have really had it with these idiots. This pandemic is 100% a self inflicted wound. Friends of mine are gone and people still think it is no big deal...it is infuriating and I will never forgive them.

That so many people still are supporting this orange mass in office. The fact that you and another "token" Democrat are in the room full of zombies is frightening as we head towards November. If they had a voting box in the room right then, who do you think will win? I pray and hope we see change soon.
