(296,821 posts)I've seen Outlander.. I don't know if it's the same that they're speaking in that series?
TomSlick
(11,088 posts)If you understand anything they're saying, then it's not Gaelic.
If you can catch a few words, then they are speaking Scots - a dialect of English that borrows Gaelic words but is mostly a kind of English.
You may have sung a song in Scots and not known it.

(296,821 posts)in their native language.. the Scottish Highlanders lapse into it sometimes.. but the show is mostly in English with their strong Scottish accents.. or in just English.. depending on who's speaking. Talking about "interesting"
Yes, I did know Auld Lang Syne was Scots.. I researched long ago. Fascinating!

These and many other Progressive/Liberal policies that Ill bet a vast majority of Democrats support.
But somehow there is a disconnect that occurs in actually supporting progressive candidates who want to push hard for these policies instead of those that downplay them as some possible future ideas but not now, or worse regard them as pipe dreams
A paralysis type of fear of losing seats if they not dare support incumbent candidates who routinely vote with Republicans. Somehow missing that if they stopped bad mouthing these progressive upstarts and instead helped promote them, one by one theyd get elected.
If a candidate dares to suggest the party could work harder to fight for these things, they are blasted for it as attacking the party. Things they actually want too! I dont get it

(25,376 posts)Do you mean the only Democrat who voted against the last Conoavirus stimulus package?
Those things you mention are all Democratic policies.

(92,061 posts)that the dislike of Rep Ocasio-Cortez is just out of the blue without merit. It isn't
When she makes statements that "in any other country, Joe Biden and I would not be in the same party"
That kind of speaks for itself

(283 posts)Fawning over just one of hundreds of Democrats some of whom have spent a lifetime fighting with republicans lacks gratefulness for their efforts.
The vocal ones stand on the shoulders of all the ones before them, who silently worked for the goals without desiring fame and attention. So let's hear it for ALL the Democrats who have been fighting republicans.
