(25,242 posts)Cohen was convicted and sentenced. I don't think he's served out the complete time of his sentence yet - so on what basis are they releasing him? Is it the Covid-19 excuse or something else? Good behavior? What?

(25,242 posts)There's light at the end of the tunnel. It's going to disappear like magic. Trump will ultimately be right about this virus.
If they release Cohen for this outbreak - they need to release all those incarcerated for the same reason. We know that ain't gonna happen.
I got to believe that - even if this judge seems like he's being hard on Trump - that what we're seeing is 'slight of hand here'. I got to think some deal was made between Trump and Cohen. I guess time will tell.

(115,681 posts)He's not free or on parole, still has to serve his sentence but for now he can do it at home. The home detention order was on account of covid-19, so I assume that if the virus is eliminated from the prison he'll have to go back and serve the rest of it there. Yes, it's a better deal than most poor and obscure slobs get. But sending him back because he was writing a book was clearly bullshit.

(11,885 posts)I wish him well ! Lol! The virus in our White House will start tweet whining soon , and claim Cohen's a liar to project towards him before his book comes out exposing a lot more trump crimes and corruption. Glad he's out. Get the book out, please. Can a civil suit be filed against them for doing this?

(19,051 posts)This was political and retaliation for political activity. Unreal and damning for Barr and Trump.

(1,988 posts)for impeachment of Barr, for starters, and Trump again for ordering Barr to do so. This, again, isn't even a grey area. The judge said they violated his civil rights; its a complete abuse of power, and this is in the criminal law realm!!
