We should be preparing for international monitoring of the election in November. Who has standing to request that of the international community?

(16,616 posts)I hope you get an answer. This question has been on my mind for the past few days. What if the president/prime minister of a nation doesn't request or want it?
Living prior presidents plus the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, plus Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer? Or would we request intervention from some allied countries, who would request it on our behalf?

(1,923 posts)That said, we do have election monitors from the OSCE and OAS. OSCE have been here since the early 2000's. The OAS sent monitors in 2018 or 2016. But there aren't many of them, maybe 200-300 I think.

Nobody has standing nationwide, frankly. Each state has rules regarding election monitors. Check the rules in your state.

Not that there's a blessed thing they can do about it if they think something went wrong.
