I have a funny story. I grew up a Yankees fan in Florida. I was overjoyed by the Bucky Dent corked bat homer in the one game playoff of 78. Then I became a professional and started working with New England people during visits there. I started to like them and as I developed more friends there, I became a Red Sox fan. I remember watching the 2003 ALCS and being disappointed when Boone hit the killer finger. Then came 2004. After the Red Sox had come back from being down 0-3 to tie the ALCS at 3-3, Mariano spoke the a group like him, prayed and then said that he had some unfinished business to attend to. The rest is history, the Yankees lost Game 7 and Mariano got shellacked when he came in to hold the Red Sox, the Red Sox completed the greatest comeback in any sport in history, my Boston friends couldn’t stop
chortling when they talked about that and how Mariano got pounded in that Game 7. Before that ALCS series Mariano was a nightmare for them, he got pounded several times in the closing part of that series.
