Morning Joe: "I wonder what Barr thinks he's going to do five months from now?"

Joe asked the question, and they're talking about the idiocy of Barr trying to silence Michael Cohen by sending him back to prison, only to have a judge reverse that.

The answer to that question, of course, is that Barr intends to do everything he can -- whether or not legal -- in the next few months to ensure Trump is re-elected, or at least left in power if the election is somehow negated or postponed. Barr is betting he won't be held accountable for anything he's doing because Trump will protect him, in return for his perverting the Justice Department to protect Trump.

Barr made his intentions clear when he said, after the charges against Michael Flynn were dropped and he was asked how history would view that, "History is written by the winners."

Trump had previously hinted that he was considering a pardon for Flynn. After denying he was doing Trump’s bidding, Barr was asked how history would remember this move. “History is written by the winners, so it largely depends on who is writing the history,” he said with a sly smile.

but at least he generally tried to follow the rules. With Barr believing in his all powerful "Unitary Executive", he basically thinks the president is a dictator for 4 years

We need some truly independent IGs who do not report to the president and who have the power to investigate ethical and illegal actions without threat of being fired. As a control on partisan IGs, they could report to a committee in Congress and be required to present preliminary information on suspected ethical or legal lapses and obtain approval to launch an investigation. Trump and his administration have shown that people willing to subvert every presidential norm and semblance of ethical behavior can do a great deal of damage to our system of government. The Constitution alone is not enough any longer to prevent such behavior.

The other issue that needs to be addressed is Trump’s misuse of rotating acting heads of agencies to avoid Senate scrutiny and approval. Most of his acting heads have been deplorable human beings with no experience for their roles.

But that is starting to change too like: tearing down Confederate statues, renaming military bases and the changing perception of Christopher Columbus from our textbook version toward the truth of the savage way he treated the natives.

They’d grab him in a minute. Marquee talent and all that. If trump loses, phone calls will start flying between Pox Noise headquarters and the Justice Department, maybe with a few others to someone at William Morris (because Barr will want a hotshot agent to line him up with a good deal on his next gig).

Remember, these bastards ALWAYS go toward answering the question: “how much money could I make off of this?” There are book deals and the lecture circuit and guest punditry opportunities, plus slots on cushy corporate boards of directors awaiting, too.

Hermann Goering committed suicide on the eve of his scheduled execution. The highest-ranking Nazi to survive the war, Gestapo founder and Luftwaffe commander-in-chief Herman Goering took his own life on the night of October 15, 1946, just hours before his scheduled execution.

Barr needs to be tried, and hanged, for subversion of the Constitution and any other charges we can stick to him He is responsible for a lot, so we will have plenty to choose from)...time to start dishing back Republican bullshit in spades...I DEMAND retribution in 2021 against all of these criminal fascists from Trump on down.

Account.

Witness Kissinger or Cheney or any number of other asshole, genocidal maniacs who just so happened to have United States Passports.

I sincerely wish to see Stephen Miller on trial at The Hague, along with every other douchebag Border Patrol officer who thought it was a good idea to cage children.

We seem to have been able to put ourselves above reproach, not to mention accountability, on the international stage.

We really aren’t that special, for fucks sake.
