Euro zone business activity bounces back in July with strongest growth in 2 years

The euro zone’s business activity rebounded in July, according to preliminary data, as strict coronavirus lockdowns were further eased and more people returned to work.

Many euro zone countries have reopened their economies, but there are social-distancing measures in place and many firms are operating at reduced capacity to avoid a spike in cases.

Firms in France led the recovery in the 19-member region, with both manufacturing and services reporting the best output growth in two-and-a-half years.

Governments will also likely end their financial support for companies to keep all their employees on the payroll.

we had President Hillary Clinton in office when this pandemic hit us, we would be in at least as good a place economically is Europe is today.

The right would be fighting even harder that the virus is a hoax/is fake if there was a Dem in the WH.

we didn't. our furtive attempts at re-opening will fail pathetically until we also do the work. unfortunately it's much harder now.

The half-assed, leaderless, incoherent national response has resulted in dozens of thousands of deaths, anger, confusion, and a wrecked economy. It's the end of July, and all the efforts citizens made during March, April and May have been utterly wasted by the Trump administration. Even now we continue to be consumed by pointless arguments about simple countermeasures to slow the spread of the virus. The bad will that's been built up will keep us from doing better.

If Trump turned on a dime and began at last to implement a coherent national strategy based on the best information available and without regard for lining the pockets of his cronies, he could still get the country working again by October. That is obviously impossible, and another hundred thousand Americans will die by election day while Trump whines about how unfair everything is to him.
