General Discussion

Whenever I see a Biden campaign ad, or even an ad by a group like The Lincoln Project, I imagine how that ad will be perceived by someone who is not really interested in politics, or how it will be perceived by a "not yet completely gone" Trump supporter.
I think that VP Biden looks very presidential. Calming. Adult. Mature. Serious. The opposite of what we have now.
I think "Yep, this would be nice right about now". And I think even the most rabid Trump supporter might have a similar nagging thought, however fleeting it may be in their eyes. It's difficult to ignore, and I'm guessing that generally, Trump supporters short circuit for a few micro seconds when their brain compares Biden to Trump.
If I were a hardcore supporter of an insane incumbent who I constantly had to defend and explain why he is "not a racist", and rationalize how well the pandemic response is going, and one of those "serious" photos of VP Biden flashed up on the TV screen, I'd have to suppress that "oh shit" feeling.

(19,060 posts)Biden is running some great ads, majority of them positive. But the Lincoln Project and others are absolutely hammering Trump with negative ads that even his supporters have to be exhausted from.
Biden is trying to run out the clock at this point, no need to take risks at all, but be smart and keep working hard.

(17,425 posts)but I was browsing it last night.
There's a sub-Reddit group called "insane people Facebook" or something similar to that. In this group, people post the insane crap that they find on Facebook. There's a lot of stuff posted that is generated by Trump supporters on Facebook.
The delusional thinking that you mention is very apparent to anyone who is half-way normal.

(9,263 posts)of those found all around america.
- a fact is something they "agree" with, all others are considered "so-called" facts and are fake
- the govt is always lying when a democrat is in charge and always truthful when a GOP'er is in charge
- news sources are dependent on rush limabaugh and foxnews
the lesson is clear, we have 40% of america who have delusional and magical thinking with NO chance of a reasoned discussion. Until we can proclaim conservatism is a mental illness, the trend will not change and is a waste of time to expect otherwise.

(3,166 posts)I have to think that deep down, in their innermost soul, even the most fervent Trump supporter knows that he is totally unfit for office. Anyone who could look and listen to him and compare him to Biden (or really to ANY President) has to know that Trump is in totally over his head.
Maybe I'm wrong.
