It took something like 95 days to reach the 1st million cases
and 45 days to reach 2 million and ? # of days to reach 3
million and now it was something like 14 days to hit 4 million

The first US case was on January 19
We hit 1 million on April 27 (99 days)
We hit 2 million on June 7(41 days)
We hit 3 million on July 6 (29 days)
We hit 4 million on July 21 (15 days)

All numbers but the first from Worldometers.

The patient who presented to the hospital on January 19 started showing symptoms on January 15 (so there is some fuzziness as to the start date - which could put the first period anywhere from 99 days to 103 days). https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2001191

Fun fact: I have recently learned that I was exposed - in Ohio - in January (likely from an initial infection in Florida). So it is likely that cases were here before that.
