https://www.dispatch.com/zz/news/20200723/hud-revokes-obama-era-rule-designed-to-diversify-suburbsWASHINGTON The Trump administration said Thursday that it is revoking an Obama-era housing regulation designed to eliminate racial disparities in the suburbs, a move that fair housing advocates have decried as an election year stunt designed to manipulate the fears of white voters.
In a tweet addressed to The Suburban Housewives of America, President Donald Trump made his intended audience clear. Biden will destroy your neighborhood and your American Dream, he said. I will preserve it, and make it even better!
Trump has repeatedly characterized the 2015 Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing regulation as an existential threat to the suburban way of life that will bring about more crime and lower home prices.
In a statement, Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson said the regulation known as AFFH, was unworkable and ultimately a waste of time for localities to comply with.
It will be replaced by a new rule that reduces the burden on local jurisdictions to prove that they are actively taking steps to address historical patterns of racial segregation in order to qualify for HUD financing.

(5,240 posts)homeless families I have some sympathy for people who are apprehensive about low income housing being built in a upper middle class area. After the apartment complex opened up the crime rates in our area skyrocketed. We went from being a place where you could leave your door unlocked while walking the dog, or leaving your car in the driveway to having to lock your house and find a garage for all of your vehicles. Our neighbor's house was broken into while they were upstairs, another neighbor had their car stolen. We've had stored robbed at gunpoint and shootiings. The arrests, when caught, were all residents of the apartment complex. It's not an easy issue to deal with.

(31,818 posts)This isn't just about 'homeless' housing -
This is about affluent minorities having access to neighborhoods they can afford to live in - but based on the color of their skin?
They are going backwards. This is a minority owned home.

Of course, poor brown and black people are always criminals, so NIMBY.
