(82,849 posts)I mean, it's not magic. Wealthy people have made out like bandits lately - perhaps you've noticed? And all they've done with that money is keep it all for themselves or ship it overseas to avoid taxes. We've now had 18 consecutive weeks of over a million new unemployed; the job creators are missing on the scene. They need to be taxed, heavily. Don't you think?

(11,949 posts)If the republicans get totally rolled in this election, which is possible but not certain, they will not change. Regardless of what the political experts say. They will double down. Tom Cotton is my guess.
As the country grows more diverse and more importantly, secular, it only makes sense that the republicans would ditch their racist, nativist message they took on in the 70s and return to their pro-rich and business roots and abandon the social bullshit. But they cant. Because a majority of their party now sees politics as a God thing. 40-50% of their base thinks you cant be a Christian and a democrat. They will not allow the party to moderate.
If we do well in November I see no way forward for them.
And they know this which is why they are trying to undo democracy in the nation. Under a true democracy they are sunk.
