Remember: Rs absolutely suck at economics. Always have, always will.

The reason: they approach economics through the prism of their RW ideologies to the exclusion of facts and reality. Their economic proposals are theories based on their ideological beliefs. They are made absent a factual basis. Even when facts and data prove them wrong, they stick to their guns. The only thing that changes is that the lies they conjure to explain away the facts become more desperate and ridiculous as time goes by.

Supply side economics is the historic example of this ideological dead end. Today, we see the philosophy at work in the Senate’s dithering on the HEROES Act, and in shoring up the economy. The ideological lie is put out that extending the $600 UI benefit dissuades people from returning to work. This lie is countered by the facts on the ground. In truth, the Rs have been trumpeting how many millions of jobs have been “created” by people returning to work, while at the same time warning that the $600 benefit is keeping people from returning to work. They want to have it both ways.

At the same time, they ignore the projections of economists who warn that ending or even cutting the $600 benefit will have grave negative effects on the economy in both the short and long term. These voices are ignored as their warnings don’t fit the RW ideology. When the warnings are shown to have been accurate, they shift to the blame game, or worse, propose that the problem was that they didn’t cut benefits deeply enough.

I am hoping that Chuck and Nancy hold the line on that $600. That should be nonnegotiable. Our economy is at stake, as well as the livelihoods and lives of millions of Americans who find themselves in this position for one reason: the abject incompetence of Donald tRump.

re:Romney and his "addition" to the package which will effectively reduce Social Security. Pelosi and Schumer better not let Romney's addition thinking they can fix (delete) it after the election.

Romney is a worm. I don't understand how people here on DU can say he's honorable, good, etc., when he's pushing this -- which is totally against democratic principles.
