You Know What's Ironic About The AIDS Crisis From 35 Years Ago?

It's ironic that the same crowd who is now insisting that it's their RIGHT to not wear a mask, and go around infecting other people with COVID-19, was going around in 1985 insisting that anybody who tested positive for AIDS should be locked up in a leper colony, to prevent them from spreading their disease. And the real irony is that AIDS is communicable but not contagious, while COVID-19 is both communicable AND contagious.

Let's face it. The 'culture wars' is not between liberals and conservatives. It's between people who HAVE principles, and tribalist hypocrites who only CLAIM to have principles.

in their point of view, ethics and morality and principles are nothing but handicaps.

they think they are enlightened by not having any other than defense of their tribe.

they think democrats are weak by allowing themselves to be held back by principles.

this is why they defend child molesters while they laugh at us for kicking out someone who can't account for where his hand is during some photo-ops.

the only principle they have is a highly misplaced loyalty.

I was thinking for the right term for them and yes, they are tribalist....and that is why their “values” are to contradictory.

Pro law and order when it’s police vs black people, but when it’s them they are against tyranny.

Pro life until the baby is born and happens to be black....then they are against every program that would help that black kid have a good life

And those are just two examples, I can go on and on with their contradictions and tribalism

Like you can almost always tell who the smart people are based on their reaction to a crisis or thing. And you can always tell who watches Fox based on their reactions too.

some of them are selfish through and through. but if you're inside their circle of friends and family and skin color and whatever, some of these people are actually quite generous and kind and will do anything for someone else inside their circle.

but if you're outside their circle, you're vermin or worse, and they're often just itching for an excuse to use those beloved "second amendment rights".

It's not airborne, but it's contagious.
Contagious means can spread from one person to another. Which it certainly does.

... Just as the Reagan Administration attempted to sweep the AIDS epidemic under the carpet for most of Reagan's first term, the Trump Administration attempted to ignore the Coronavirus until it became too enormous to ignore.

The Reagan Admin also promised an AIDS vaccine "within four years" -- it still hasn't materialized after 35 years, and the Trump Admin is talking about a Covid vaccine being available by January - it is within the realm of possibility that an effective vaccine will not appear for years or maybe never.

And I remember all too well the finger pointing that went on about one's 'behavior" causing AIDS and how George H.W. Bush talked about the "innocent victims" (i.e. the ones who didn't catch it from sex). . . Goddamn, I fucking hate repigs.

Dying from AIDS? It’s your lifestyle. Not my problem.
Dying from Covid-19? You were going to die soon anyway. Too old, sick, diabetic? Not my problem.
