Three Injured in Shooting as Rival Armed Militias Converge on Louisville

Shots rang out in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday as hundreds of members of heavily armed militia groups converged on the city for a protest against police brutality.

Louisville police confirmed three people were injured when a gun discharged as members of the “Not Fucking Around Coalition,” an all-Black militia, gathered in Baxter Park shortly before 1 p.m.

A spokesperson for the police department described the shooting to The Daily Beast as “negligent” and said there were “no charges at this time” and no outstanding suspects.

The victims, all of whom were members of the NFAC, were transferred to the University of Louisville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

....I did not do so with my comment. I usually do this in the hope that responses will be civil, like yours. It's nice that we can disagree on DU without demanding that we are right. My initial response to the armed black militias was like yours, I thought that it demonstrated an unwillingness to be victims anymore. Just like BLM. But on further thought it is my opinion that armed militias just don't do any good to a movement. The black panther movement of my youth in the 60's helped bring change, but it also changed laws about gun ownership and helped create the modern NRA that cares more about the 2nd Amendment than gun safety, marksmanship or hunting.
