My favorite Olivia DeHaviland movie - 'The Heiress'

Olivia, along with the dashing and incredibly talented Montgomery Clift. What a brilliant film. She won an Oscar for her portrayal of Catherine Sloper. It is a heart breaking, and at the same time empowering film. If you've never seen it, it's high on my recommended list. The evolution of her character is one of the best I've ever seen.

When I watch it, I always think that the best thing that ever happened to Olivia de Havilland's character is when Montgomery Clift's character stands her up when she has her heart set on eloping with him. It was a reality check for her. If he had actually shown up that night, what kind of a bloody horror would her life have been like from that point on?

The supporters of that orange con man in the White House are in a similar situation now. They need a similar reality check. How painful will that reality check have to be to be effective for them? How painful will it be for the rest of us?

Our current situation is SO analagous to that situation in that movie.

They don't have any old movies. I found exactly one Cary Grant movie, and it was a dumb one from the later 40's or early 50's.

8. I see very few classic films, anymore, because Xfinity bundled TCM into a mostly SPORTS package

They call it an 'entertainment' package but it's 99.9% sports and some country music stuff. I refuse to spend $15 extra a month for one channel.

So much done with just her eyes and tone of voice as she changes from the naive innocent taken advantage of to a woman who gets revenge on those who treated her so cruelly. I don't think we'll ever see that kind of acting from the today's actors and actresses or those in the future.
