Walmart won't enforce its own rules on mask-wearing because it fears staff could be attacked

by shoppers angry at being challenged

Shoppers who refuse to wear a face mask to visit Walmart will still be served, as the company seeks to protect its staff from "a physical confrontation," according to a CNN report.

Walmart had announced that as of July 20, face masks would be compulsory for all but those whose medical conditions prevent it, as Business Insider's Hayley Peterson reported. At least 27 other retailers have recently required the same thing.

However, a training video seen by CNN tells management to let people who refuse to wear a mask "continue to shop."

Home Depot, Lowe's, CVS, and Walgreens have also said they'll serve customers without masks, CNN reported.

and I happened to be out and about as church let out today. I passed 3, all with large groups of people congregating in the parking lots - not a mask in sight. QT (convenience store chain) has been better, but even their enforcement is not consistent. My MIL asked a lady behind her in line for the ATM to please give her 6ft, the lady went OFF. The guard @ 10ft away, stood there and looked at them. My MIL left and went to another ATM.

but endangering others' lives by not wearing a mask is ok. Trump should send his goons to uphold the law and protect the public.

I know what it's like to get the blowback from customers on company policies they disagree with, no matter how reasonable those policies are. Hopefully, the anti-maskers will just give it to each other.

No smoking, no spitting. No foul language. No public urination. (in fact, many of these stores DO have security that are already trained for these situations, and are perfectly capable of handling hissy fits -- and anything more complicated than that is a trespass violation to be handled by LE.)

This is a failure of corporate will. Nothing more -- nothing less.

for the exact same reason. It’s a huge safety and liability issue. I’d be surprised if Walmart’s policy was otherwise because they’d be risking major lawsuits if an employee was injured confronting a shoplifter.

I would be considering that as an employer myself. And because I do not want employees. Not my liability.

So by that standard surely "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" or the "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service" is more than enough to get the cretins out of stores.

There are 2 in my area of KY. If I have to go out for essentials, sometimes I go there for TP, paper towels, and stevia (yes, they have it). Last month I was in one, where the cashier was wearing his mask down under his nose. I pointed out that didn't do the job. He quickly pulled it back in place.

I was at the other one last Fri. Same thing, cashier with mask hanging around her neck. I said, that's not helping anyone. She said--yeah--and kept right on at the cash register. When I called DG corporate to complain, they put me on hold for 10 minutes, and I finally gave up.

Most of the people I see now if I do go out, are wearing masks here. But there's still a few that say they're too hot, uncomfortable, or think they're immortal. My husband works with a guy that says--masks are about as useless as our governor. (you know--Gov. Beshear that has kept our state at one of the lowest rates, but is getting sued for the mask mandate. Including by the idiot AG.)

Two unmasked shoppers paraded right in - fully expecting no one to challenge them. They weren't challenged, and when I asked the cashier why she didn't say anything to them, she told me they were not allowed to say anything to them.

Report to health department; complaint to Dollar General corporate office informing them I won't be back until they start enforcing the mask rule.
