More federal officers deploying to Portland as protests gain momentum

https://www.opb.org/news/article/more-federal-officers-deploying-portland/

Several dozen additional out-of-town federal law enforcement officers are deploying to Portland as they look to make additional arrests in the coming days, while also shifting tactics from the use of tear gas, according to multiple federal law enforcement sources.

The federal response has so far sparked four civil rights lawsuits, a Department of Justice inspector general investigation, proposed legislation in Congress limiting the role of federal law enforcement in American cities, and has injured a number of protesters. Rather than quell the protests as was the intent, it’s served to reenergize and strengthen the city’s protest movement.

The beefed up federal presence comes at the same time federal officials are internally acknowledging they have contributed to the quick escalation between law enforcement and groups of protesters, which had dwindled to a couple hundred people or less earlier this month.

“Anytime you shoot someone in the face and beat them with a baton, it’s going to be criticized,” said one federal law enforcement official. “That’s not a controversial statement.”

And this next tranche of goons will include trained, undercover agitators to ensure that violence occurs.

Peaceful marches can continue, with the awesome Mothers’ and Veterans’ walls front and center, but stay away from federal property. March legally during daylight hours. Maybe take the show on the road to Vancouver and down into the Valley.

Don’t take the bait.

Dummies.

(On Edit) I also agree with farmbo...let them stand around on federal property with their camo and their long guns under no threat and guarding...nothing, for double salary plus hazard pay.

I'd also like it very much if state governors cut a public deal with protestors : please stay off federal property, and in turn, if these goons so much as cross the street, they'll be arrested.

Pretty cut and dry...if you dont fuck with them, they will look like dopes. If they have to come to where you are to fuck with you, you win.

It’s your people who are beating protestors with batons and pepper spraying peaceful moms and veterans. So, yes, you’re going to be criticized. And, eventually, you’re going to be prosecuted.
