My dad passed a year ago. He was in his 90's, a Floridian, and a trumpster. Before he passed he was looking at some old pictures and came upon one of this father. He paused, studied it carefully, and lamented, "my dad, if he said the sky was green, then god dammit the sky was green" while he slowly shook his head. This is the first I ever heard him speak of the man.

I never met my grandfather, but I know that my Dad was a hard man, and could be cruel, especially towards the end of his life.

I kind of detoured, but your question reminded me of one of the last times I saw my Dad.
