General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAs a Texan, I made four phone calls this morning.
Greg Abbott.
Dan Patrick.
Ted Cruz.
John Cornyn.
I want to know why people in the Rio Grande Valley are not receiving any federal help and some are being sent home to die because the hospitals are without resources to treat the number of cases that are showing up at the emergency room. Im in San Antonio and our situation is also very grim. If death panels are allowed in the RGV, who will be next?
Yes, I understand that it was a waste of my time. BUT if every Texan reading this were to also call, it just might get somewhere. Who knows. But can you spare a few minutes?
Greg Abbott: 512-463-2000
Dan Patrick: 512-463-0001
John Cornyn: 202-224-2934
Ted Cruz: 210-340-2885
I also commented about the miserable way the crisis is being handled and that I expected my representation in Texas to be about helping Texans; not about Donald Trump.
Thank you.

(32,626 posts)are getting more involved with their own local governments. It's sad that the general election takes such precedence over local ones, but seeing the priorities of different states is eye-opening. But then, maybe that's just from the outside looking in.

(36,424 posts)I do not understand why the White House & congressional switchboards are not lit up like a Christmas tree! Most of us have smart phones which makes it soooooo easy to call our reps, but we don't! I make my calls every Monday morning. It takes about 15-20 minutes to compose a brief message & make the calls.
The last time We the People lit up the congressional switchboard was the financial crisis of 2008. Are we there yet? I guess not.

(15,220 posts)Im fed up. But I guess most people arent.
We need to organize and we need to flood - and keep flooding - the switchboards. I understand that most believe its a waste of time. But we need massive amounts doing this. THEN it wont be a waste of time.

(15,220 posts)A ship, a field hospital. Something.
Trump knows this area does not typically vote red, so he's allowing this to happen. There's a special place in hell for him.

(2,673 posts)Way back when considering invading Iraq was main topic of news,, sent letters to Senators Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchenson. Rec'd a reply from Kay Bailey about the pending invasion. Got letter from Cornyn asking for a donation to his campaign.
Most recent, sent letters to Cornyn and Cruz about the impeachment. No reply from Cruz. Got letter from Cornyn asking for a donation to his campaign.

(15,220 posts)I know it's a long shot, but that idiot needs to be sent packing. That smug muzzle of his makes me want to puke. And then, of course, there's Cruz!

(3,252 posts)The officeholders staff handles all of the correspondence and they never see any of it. If you could get 10,000 to write they may notice, but a few letters among millions of voters is not noteworthy. Local elected officialshave some voice, but here in west Texas we are not going to get much attention from Republicans because they know they don't have many Republican voters here. Our local officials pleaded with Abbott to keep restrictions in place in El Paso and they were completely ignored. We went from somewhere around 80 cases per day to 200-500 per day. The only thing that will work id November. GOTV.
