Black gun-rights groups have started open-carry marches at anti-racism protests

More than 300 heavily armed Black protesters marched in formation through Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday, demanding progress on the slow investigation of the police killing of Breonna Taylor. The same group, the Not F---ing Around Coalition (NFAC), had recently marched in Stone Mountain, Georgia, wearing black and carrying their semi-automatic rifles, protesting the Atlanta suburb's namesake monument depicting Confederate generals, and a separate armed Black group marched in Oklahoma City in June to mark President Trump's Tulsa rally.

They have gotten mixed reactions from Black Lives Matter protesters, who do not carry firearms to demonstrations.

In Louisville, about 50 heavy armed white members of the far-right Three Percenter militia watched the NFAC march, purportedly there to support local police. Three Percenters came in from Indiana, Tennessee, and other states for the rally, according to leader Tara Brandau. Fellow militia member Nick Alsager told the Louisville Courier Journal the NFAC marchers had a constitutional right to speak up, but they've "got no business being here. It ain't your state." Three people were wounded when someone's gun accidentally discharged, but otherwise the rally was tense but peaceful.

Black Americans, like white Americans, have been buying firearms in unusually large numbers since the COVID-19 pandemic started, and Black gun ownership picked up more after the police killing of George Floyd, Politico reports, citing a sharp uptick in new memberships in Black gun owner organizations.

Not LITERALLY fighting with gun fire, but if a bunch of Trump supporters can walk around "peacefully" with AR-15s around their neck and claim its their right, then ANYBODY can. That applies to everyone, right?

I'm all for this as show, but gosh what a powderkeg situation it could be. I understand the NFAC's frustration that it would come to this.

3. Good for them! If the right-wingers are insisting on their right to carry,

then why shouldn't others do the same?

Let the militia cowards see that they are not the only game in town. They won't like it one bit, but they can't really argue against open carry in general, since they insist they have that right.

It's about time!

Let the cosplaytriots learn that fat white dudes aren’t the only ones who are armed and able to fight. Hopefully they’ll spend more time in mommy’s basement.

7. Carrying weapons to any protest is never a smart move, no matter who is doing it.

Yes, I understand the double standard.

Still this is an incredibly foolish idea that doesn't help things.

Sorry.

as once they have them they don't want to lose them.

Lots of ARs, AKs and other assault weapons, it seems. Let's see who takes them on.

It has been promoted as an absolute truism that if Blacks marched with guns they would be killed en masse.

On the other hand, gun control zealots look gleefully toward racism being a means to their goals.

No right should be any greater or lesser due to a person's skin color.

He was white, but it was during a BLM protest.

A car ran a red light into protesters. Driver is claiming protester aimed his rifle at him. Driver killed protester. As driver was leaving the scene, another BLM protester shot at the driver.

As you mentioned. I am referring to those who loudly proclaimed Black men open carrying would be gunned down by police.

Interestingly some who are cheering this action are the same ones who were advocating calling out the NG supported by tanks and attack helicopters. They were all in favor of gunning down each and every protester who did not immediately disarm. I believe the term 'shoot to kill' was used.

For myself, I repeat that I am opposed to carrying/ displaying firearms as part of a protest. Primarily it is a safety issue. In addition, doing so is poor optics as it is at the least an implied threat. That said, no one needs my permission to do anything and what they are doing is not illegal.

15. Sorry, but I think this is kind of LARPy.

It’s less an example of LARPing than the 3% militia, but none the less...

I don’t think this is a good idea, tbh.
