Donald Trump Is a Broken Man

In another time, in a different circumstance, there would perhaps be room to pity such a person.

<snip>

When Wallace interrupted, trying to get Trump to focus on the positive achievements of his presidency—“What about the good parts, sir?”—Trump brushed the question aside, responding, “Russia, Russia, Russia.” The president then complained about the Flynn investigation, the “Russia hoax,” the “Mueller scam,” and the recusal by his then–attorney general, Jeff Sessions. (“Now I feel good because he lost overwhelmingly in the great state of Alabama,” Trump said about the first senator to endorse him in the 2016 Republican primary.)

Donald Trump is a psychologically broken, embittered, and deeply unhappy man. He is so gripped by his grievances, such a prisoner of his resentments, that even the most benevolent question from an interviewer—what good parts of your presidency would you like to be remembered for?—triggered a gusher of discontent.

<snip>

Just in case his bitterness wasn’t coming through clearly enough, the president added this: “That would be Comey, that would be Brennan, that would be all of this—the two lovers, Strzok and Page, they would be in jail now for many, many years. They would be in jail; it would’ve started two years ago, and they’d be there for 50 years. The fact is, they illegally spied on my campaign. Let’s see what happens. Despite that, I did more than any president in history in the first three and a half years.”

With that, the interview ended.

<snip>

In another time, in a different circumstance, there would perhaps be room to pity such a person. But for now, it is best for the pity to wait. There are other things to which to attend. The American public faces one great and morally urgent task above all others between now and November: to do everything in its power to remove from the presidency a self-pitying man who is shattering the nation and doesn’t even care.

dog for biting me, it has no choice.

I am not surprised when a mentally ill person acts mentally ill, but I do get mad at those who enable and support it.

Me.

but his entire life has been about stealing and double dealing. Cheating people by selling them faulty good or their classic scheme. Hire someone to do work and then after the work is done say it wasn't up to par and they would refuse to pay. Businesses were lost, families thrown into financial ruin. He's also, and has always been, a racist of most incredible proportions. He'd have people killed for their race. And let's not forget the rapes, the misogyny. And now he's letting people die for his incompetent, lack of caring and incompetence all the while stealing as much from the American people as fast as he can.

He is beyond pity and redemption.

He has every benefit, schooling, and financial possibility and has squandered it.

My family is pretty dysfunctional there is no reason to feel sorry for me. It did not make me a pathological narcissist.

he's a guy who was born into everything and has had things in his life most of us can only fantasize about.

yet he's incapable of enjoying it because he's incapable of loving or of feeling loved, he's incapable of feeling satisfied and content and appreciative of all his has, he's incapable of happiness.

there's a hole his his heart that will never be filled.

and that's pitiable.

now, the way he compensates for this, with anger and greed and attacking others and so on, well, that's contemptible and i have no sympathy for the choices he's made and the actions he's taken and the things he's said.

but i do feel sorry for him.

and as eliot noted above, i too reserve my real anger and contempt for the supposedly *not* mentally ill people who support and enable him. they're the ones who should know better and be able to do better.

i have a brother who has a laundry list of mental illnesses, so maybe i have a different perspective from most....

Thank God he wasn't in office during WWII or we'd be speaking German and flying the Nazi flag. And Hitler would have been his BFF.

So either he means that in the first three years of the country or he means he is the greatest of all time. I'm sure he thinks he's the greatest of all time and I bet czarina tells him that every day.

One thing for certain, he's one of the champeen whiners of all time and that's for his entire life.

We all have one choice this election. It's Biden and some chance of saving the country and our very lives or misery for all until death by which ever horrid thing kills each of us first.
